“When I asked James to paint a portrait of my partner
as a present, I wasn’t sure how it would turn out.About half way through, James sent me a photograph of the
work in progress, but on showing it to friends, we agreed it didn’t quite
look right.  I was a little nervous about telling James, but was so pleased
when he was happy to change the portrait in the way I suggested.

The outcome was fantastic and on Christmas morning Rob came
downstairs to find a portrait of himself hanging in the living room and I have
to say he was gobsmacked!  James’ interpretation of Rob, painted as a
member of the Byron family, dressed in battle armour, with a background of
Newstead Abbey was spot on, and Rob was incredibly impressed with it all.Rob and I were both extremely impressed with James’
professionalism and obvious talent.The painting itself had taken James about five months to
complete – but I had told him right from the start that there was no
hurry. We had many discussions concerning size of
portrait, design of armour, background landscape and colour of frame and James
consulted me every step of the way.- Debra"
