This was my first acrylic painting in seven years and was a practice piece that turned out well. I tried a new method of painting the base coat with a pale wintery blue oil paint before painting, so that when I painted the water based acrylic on top, the acrylic paint separated leaving little patches of the oil based blue paint throughout the picture, thus giving at a continuous tone throughout the painting.
